World Champion Bobby Mote Doubles Down

(Tucson, Ariz.) – Bareback rider Bobby Mote, Culver, Ore., showed his world champion style with an 85-point ride on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Little Mary—he sits second in the standings behind fellow Oregonian Jason Havnens who scored an 88 yesterday. Mote returned to the arena with heeling partner Willy Gould of Wickenburg, Ariz. posting a 7.7-second run in team roping, the third best time of the day.  Mote is in contention for the Lynn Beutler all-around buckle awarded to the cowboy with the top earnings from two or more events.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day raised $5,000 for the Southern Arizona Susan G. Komen for the Cure as cowboys, cowgirls and 5,100 fans supported breast cancer programs by wearing pink shirts, hats and boots.

Tuesday, Feb. 22 is slack for timed events only, beginning at 8 a.m. Full rodeo performances resume Thursday, Feb. 25.
