ucson Rodeo Slack Competition


(Tucson, Ariz.) -- Barrel racers completed their first round today and steer wrestlers and ropers began round two.  The second round for all timed events will be completed on Saturday, Feb. 27. The 12 best aggregate times will advance to the finals on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Wednesday’s schedule includes barrel racing slack beginning at 8 a.m. and a Gold Card Team Roping event for Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) members 50-years and older.

The featured event Wednesday is the annual Mike Cervi, Jr. Memorial Team Roping which begins at 11 a.m.  One hundred teams will compete in this progressive roping event.  The winning team earns almost $40,000 in prize money. The event is not a sanctioned PRCA event.  Admission proceeds benefit the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

Admission Wednesday is $10 per person at the gate.  Regular performances of the Tucson Rodeo resume Thursday, Feb. 25 and continue through Sunday, Feb. 28.
