Tucson Rodeo Slack Competition

(Tucson, Ariz.) – Perfect weather and arena conditions contributed to record-breaking, and record-tying runs in team roping and steer wrestling. Team ropers Aaron Tsinigine, Gilbert, Ariz., and Dakota Kitchenschlager, De Leon, Texas, set a new record for the fastest total time on two head, 11.6 seconds. The previous record of 12.3 seconds was established in 1992. Turtle Powell, Stephenville, Texas, and Jhett Johnson, Casper, Wyo., had a total of 11.9, besting the 1992 record as well.

Spencer Mitchell, Calusa, Calif., and Broc Cresta, Santa Rosa, Calif., tied the single run record of 4.9 in team roping. The record of 4.9 seconds was set in 2008.

Steer wrestler Johnny Asher, Speedwell, Tenn., set a new arena record of 8.8 seconds for the fastest total time on two head. The previous record of 9.8 seconds was established in 1987.

Travis Carnine of Stanfield, Ore. took the lead in the second round of steer wrestling with a record-tying 3.8 second single run. The current single run arena record was set in 2002.
