(Tucson, Ariz.) – Overnight and morning rains turned the Tucson Rodeo Arena into a spongy, soft surface, limiting the bucking power of broncs and bulls and the traction of timed event horses. Today’s scores and times certainly don’t reflect the caliber of the cowboys and cowgirls who competed at the opening day of the Tucson Rodeo.
Although over 4300 tickets were sold in advance for today’s event, an estimated 3000 fans attended the rodeo. The sun broke through just as Mutton Bustin’ began at 12:30 p.m.
